C95 DELIVERS A SPECIAL CHRISTMAS WISH TO SASKATOON NEWCOMERS

C95 was excited to deliver a special Christmas Wish to Rishali Kambare and his family this past Wednesday, December 14th!

Over the past month, C95 listeners submitted nearly 400 nominations for families and individuals who deserve a little extra help this holiday season. The Kambare family were selected to be this year’s lucky recipients.

They were nominated by Randeen Durette who teaches Kambare’s four children at St. Phillip School. This is the first holiday season for the family who arrived in Canada this August after it took ten years to flee the Congo and arrive safely in Canada.

“They came with the clothes on their backs and no money at all,” said Durette. “This family still lives with the bare minimum. They will not have a Christmas with gifts and special food unless it is donated to them.”

With the help from Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon, Al Hattie Insurance Saskatoon, Your Independent Grocer and many other generous sponsors C95 made this family’s first Christmas in Canada unforgettable and surprised them with gifts, groceries and a car courtesy of Precision Autobody.

Joe and Jennifer Giocoli from Precision Auto Body are dedicated to giving back to the community through the Christmas Wish program.

“When we came across the Kambare family’s nomination, we just knew this was our Christmas Wish family. We recognized they only had the basic necessities, and felt compelled to do whatever it took to give them a beautiful Canadian Christmas. We feel these gifts will provide them with the opportunity to thrive in their new home, Canada. This is what the Christmas spirit is all about.”
