Rock 102 Stuff the Bus raises 34,000 pounds of food for Saskatoon food bank
There was one less bus on Saskatoon streets Thursday December 15th – but it was being put to good use.
The crew at Rock 102 helped to stuff a city bus full of groceries for the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre. This year donations more than doubled 2015.
The campaign raised 34,000 pounds of groceries in Thursday. Last year, Stuff the Bus collected more than 15,000 pounds of food donations.
“But even though we stuff the bus full – it doesn’t last long. Especially this time of year, it’s very important to help out the food bank,” said Rock 102 morning show host Shack.
A little over $32,000 were raised in cash donations which PotashCorp is matching dollar for dollar.
“Just knowing (people) are taking time out of their busy days to make a difference is heartwarming,” said Laurie O’Conner, the executive director of the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.
