Access Communications and 94.5 Jack FM today declared their 8th annual Food for Friends fundraiser another huge success with $47,470 including several thousand of food raised in support of the Regina & District Food Bank! This year’s event was the largest to date in the eight years the television/radio marathon has run.
The success of the event was supported again this year by the live television coverage on Access7, and live radio broadcast on 94.5 Jack FM. Access’ volunteer hosts joined Jack’s morning show hosts, Tim, Shirley & Woody, interviewing local celebrities and featuring on-air donations from dozens of friends in the community. Highlighting this year’s event were several large corporate donations including $10,000 from Bennett Dunlop Ford, a $1,500 donation from Tim Hortons and a $5,000 donation from Rona. Both Jack and Access7 broadcast live from Access’ studio A for 12 hours.
Wayne Hellquist, Chief Executive Officer, Regina & District Food Bank, was on hand for the event, and offered his appreciation saying, “We are completely humbled by the efforts of the day and the incredible support shown by Access and Jack FM. Because of their combined contribution, the Regina & District Food Bank will be able to help feed a lot more families at this very critical time of year.”
“Once again the people of Regina have truly amazed us with their generosity,” said Communications Officer for Access, Tasha Lupanko. “And we were pleased to partner once again with our friends at 94.5 Jack FM to support those in need at this special time of year. As local, Saskatchewan organizations, we both understand and value the support of the communities we serve, and we’re overwhelmed by the support shown by all of our friends in Regina during this year’s event.”
Rawlco Radio General Manager, Tom Newton, commented on the achievements of the event. “Year after year, we continue to work harder and longer to make Food for Friends a success and each year the community works with us. We are very thankful for our partnership with Access Communications; together we can reach more people and touch more families in this great city.
