GENEROSITY MAKES NEW TREATMENTS FOR BREAST CANCER IN SASKATCHEWAN POSSIBLE

C95 Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer Research raised $396,555 for Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan during today’s 12-hour live broadcast.

Aaron Scherr is currently going through treatment for breast cancer. She was first diagnosed in October 2021 when she was 22 months pregnant with her son. She started treatments while pregnant and has continued them through her maternity leave. Aaron’s son is now nine months old. She recently found out the cancer has spread through numerous lymph nodes and she’ll need more options for treatment.

Aaron shared her story during today’s broadcast.

“I’ll never forget that day I went in for the ultrasound… at this point I’m 20 weeks pregnant. Just the day before we’d had our 20-week scan, where we found out we were having a boy, and everything is great. Again, riding a high and then the next day we’re getting this terrifying news. My son is nine months old today. I just keep thinking I was put in this situation while I was pregnant for him. I look at him every day and think I’m doing this for you [him].”

The community’s donations help brave individuals, like Aaron, live longer healthier lives with their families and will be used by Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan to support breast cancer research and help Saskatchewan researchers find new treatments for those affected by breast cancer every year.

The public response was incredible and hundreds of people gave their heart to the cause and got involved. Thank you to our listeners, the survivors, corporate partners, community fundraisers, and everyone in Saskatchewan who donated generously.

Since it began, C95 Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer Research has raised more than 5.4 million dollars for breast cancer research with one hundred percent of proceeds staying in Saskatchewan.

The Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan is the fundraising partner of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency. Every dollar raised by the Foundation stays in the province supporting patient treatment and care, research, plus early detection and prevention programs.
